Dr. Julie Connolly is a board-certified Periodontist in private practice in Manhattan. She completed her dental training at Columbia University’s School of Dental and Oral Surgery, with a dual degree in Public Health (MPH). Then she did a year-long General Practice Residency at Mt Sinai Hospital on the Upper East Side. After this, she returned to Columbia to complete her Periodontal Training in a 3-years Masters program (MS).
Dr. Connolly practices with her father, Dr. Thomas Connolly, on the Upper East Side. Her practice includes all aspects of non-surgical and surgical periodontal therapy, implant therapy, bone and sinus grafting, gum grafting and laser periodontal therapy. She also is a Volunteer Faculty member at Columbia serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Periodontics. At Columbia she teaches the Periodontal Residents all aspects of Periodontal treatment including laser therapy, dental implants and periodontal microsurgery for soft tissue grafts. Dr. Connolly also directs the Dental Ethics Program for the dental students at Columbia. She leads a team of facilitators in small group sessions with the students and prepares the on-line didactic material as well as the lecture material. Outside of her private practice and teaching responsibilities, Dr. Connolly is involved in many dental professional organizations: *Past Vice-President of the New York Academy of Dentistry *Current Board Member of the NY Section of the American College of Dentists *Regency of Regency 1 of the American College of Dentists *Current Member of the New York State Dental Association's Council on Ethics *Past President of the Columbia Dental Alumni Association Dr. Connolly also frequently gives lectures to dentists and dental residents on both Periodontics and Dental Ethics. She has lectured at both the Greater New York Dental Meeting and Yankee Dental meetings as well as at New York County Dental Society, local study clubs and residency programs. In 2017, Dr. Connolly received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Department of Periodontics at Columbia. In past years she has also been the recipient of: · The Alumni President Award for Outstanding Service, Columbia College of Dental Medicine, May 2015 · The New York Academy of Dentistry, nominated to Associate Fellowship in 2007-and to Active Fellowship in 2012 · Recipient of the New York State New Dentist’s Leadership Award 2010 · The American College of Dentists, nominated to Fellowship in 2009 Outside of dentistry, Dr. Connolly is an avid runner who has completed several marathons. She also enjoys reading and completing crossword puzzles.
